#Blogathon at Dress for Success Boston

Updated: Nov 7, 2018

Article by : Carol Fontoura (@carolfontoura_)

Hi guys!! This past Wednesday I had the pleasure to participate in a #Blogathon organized by Outfit Of The Day Boston (@ootdbostonian) and hosted by Dress for Success Boston (@dfsboston)!!😍 This was a networking event where local bloggers had the opportunity to meet other bloggers as well as support the organization Dress for Success Boston in their mission to empower women to achieve their economic independence.

When I was going to college at UMass Boston back in 2014, I remember a colleague of mine mentioning about Dress for Success Boston in class and how important their job was to women that were about to go to an interview and/or enter the workforce but yet could not afford to purchase the appropriate outfit for the occasion they were about to face. And while listening to my colleague I thought to myself what a beautiful and great way to serve the community, this is definitely something no one is thinking and doing anything about it.

Fast forward to a few years later and scrolling through Instagram I saw a post about a very first #Blogathon that going to happen here in Boston which @ootdbostonian founder Gabriella Glady and co-founders Raissa Anastasia and Irene Ireeuw were organizing it!! And guess what?? It was going to be held at Dress for Success Boston!!😍 Well, let me just say that I signed up for the event as soon as I saw the button “Sign Up Here”!😊😊 I did not want to miss the opportunity to learn more about Dress for Success Boston in person, neither did I want to miss the opportunity to be part of the #Blogathon 🤗

Now let me tell you about Dress for Success Boston! Their “Mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” Dress for Success Boston is an affiliate of Worldwide Dress for Success that was founded in 2001 and nowadays the whole organization serves over 12,000 women👍.

Clients of Dress for Success Boston are referrals from locals agencies and they assist these ladies with finding the perfect interview outfit and once they obtain the job they get to come back to Dress for Success Boston to receive more outfits to start their new jobs. All FREE!! 😍 Yes! All of this work is done free of charge to women in need that are looking to achieve their economic independence.

As far as for us, there are many ways we can help Dress for Success Boston, and while I spoke with their Executive Director Kim Todd she listed a few ways we can all contribute to their mission but the most important and helpful way at this moment is by giving Dress for Success Boston a monetary donation. You can make a donation for Dress for Success Boston by clicking here 👈

I also encourage you to check out Dress for Success Boston website to learn more about them and their mission, this is truly inspiring and it makes you want to help and get involved in your local community even more. Let’s support one another, we’re stronger when we’re together!👊👊

Lastly, I like to appreciate @ootdbostonian and @dfsboston for the wonderful night, for letting us bloggers network amongst each other and most importantly for proving us the opportunity to learn about Dress for Success Boston and bring awareness to their beautiful mission❤.
